Websites. I've Got One But I Don't Know Why

Many businesses still believe that they need a website without understanding why or, more importantly, what to do with that website.
The importance of having a website for your business comes back to two key things.
Competition and Customers.
You can already be certain that your competition has their own website and is staking a claim to potential customers that are searching for your product or service. When it comes to those customers you may think "Well, I have my business listed online in the Yellow Pages, they can find me there". While many people do use directories to find businesses, these days there is something to be said about having your own online presence. It makes your potential customers feel more at ease when they know that you have a website. In its own way, having a website is the modern day equivalent of being listed in the phone book.

Most business websites should serve as an online identity representing said business. They should have a simple landing page that welcomes people and outlines what the business does and what can be done on the website. There should also be an about page that has some background about the business and a contact page with up to date contact information.
